I Am Loved

Hi thereee, I’m Evan — a lighting designer from Durban, South Africa, with a deep passion for live production, storytelling, and creating unforgettable moments through light.My journey into the entertainment industry started back in primary school when I took on an acting role in our annual school play. At the time, I had no idea that just a few years later I would be working on some of the biggest stages across KwaZulu-Natal and other parts of South Africa. What began as curiosity quickly turned into a lifelong passion for the world behind the curtain.Although lighting design is my primary focus, I genuinely love every aspect of technical production. From stage design and rigging to audio, programming, and live show operation, I’m always eager to learn more and grow my understanding of the industry. I believe the best creatives are the ones who never stop learning.I value my friendships deeply and carry every adventure close to my heart, whether it’s a spontaneous road trip to the middle of nowhere in Potchefstroom or a late-night show at the Playhouse Theatre. Those moments, the people behind them, and the stories we create together are what inspire me most.I strive to bring passion, creativity, excellence, and authenticity into every project I’m a part of. Above all, I’m grateful for every opportunity I’ve been given and for the journey that continues to unfold.Thank You Jesus

The One I Love

If you haven’t figured it out already — I love Jesus.
And just in case nobody has told you today: Jesus loves you too.More than anything, I want my life, creativity, and work to point people toward Him. Whether through production, music, conversations, or everyday life, my prayer is that people would encounter the love and presence of God in a real way.I love connecting with people who are passionate about the Gospel, discipleship, worship, creativity, and helping others experience Jesus.My heart burns for:
- Those who have never heard the truth of Jesus Christ.
- Those who believe in Him, but struggle to fully trust His promises.
- Those battling lust, pornography, shame, and fear in silence.
- Those who long to fully surrender their lives to God.I believe God calls us to live boldly, love deeply, and surrender fully.One of my biggest dreams is to build a home inspired by 3 John — a place where missionaries, creatives, and followers of Jesus can come to rest, create, worship, and be sent back out into the world refreshed and encouraged.I’m also currently saving toward attending the Fire & Fragrance Experience — a season focused on discipleship, missions, worship, and pursuing Jesus wholeheartedly.If you feel led to support or connect, I’d genuinely love to hear from you.

The Job I Love

I’ve had some truly incredible opportunities at a very young age, and I’m deeply grateful for every door that has opened along the way. From being trusted on productions far bigger than I ever imagined to constantly growing through new experiences, every opportunity has shaped me both creatively and personally.Even with every success, achievement, and milestone, I never want to forget who the original Lighting Designer is: “Then God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” — Genesis 1:3That verse has always stayed close to my heart and continues to inspire the way I approach both creativity and life.With each passing week, I continue to be given opportunities to work on bigger productions, larger stages, and more challenging projects. Every show pushes me to grow further in my design, programming, and creative abilities, and I’m incredibly thankful to be developing skills that I believe God has blessed me with.For me, lighting is more than just fixtures, colors, and timecode — it’s about creating moments, atmosphere, emotion, and experiences that people will never forget.
